Abstract

The present article gives an overview of the activities of the professional organisation of librarians in Bulgaria (ULIW/BLIA) by focusing on the main tasks of the organisation, its international connections and successfully completed national and international projects and programmes. Since the organisation is a part of the non-governmental sector in the country, a special attention is paid to the activities aimed at promoting civil society.
